Website Case Study:
Mary Cruz’s Beauty & Barber Shop
Mary Cruz’s Beauty & Barber Shop is a family-owned salon that has served the Hammond, LA community for over 20 years. Despite their longevity, they had never had a website and wanted to establish a professional online presence. With a clientele that is roughly 65% Hispanic and 35% American, they needed a bilingual site that was modern, simple, and welcoming.
My Role:
I led the UX design, branding photography, and logo creation for this project.
Create the salon’s first website to establish a digital presence.
Design a minimal, user-friendly layout that appealed to both existing and younger clients (ages 28–60).
Provide bilingual functionality (English/Spanish) to reflect their customer base.
Develop a fresh brand identity, including logo design and photography.
Project Goals
I began by outlining the key challenges: no website, need for bilingual access, wanted simplicity, and appeal to a slightly younger audience. I researched other salons in Hammond, LA to gather insights into industry standards. From there, I built a prototype and shared it with the client, who then shared it with a few of their regular customers. This feedback guided the final design, which was completed in about three weeks.
Process
Result
The new website has already received great feedback from both the client and their customers. The salon now has a stronger brand presence online, improved accessibility for their diverse clientele, and a digital platform that reflects their professional identity. I am now currently working on creating google ads for them.
